A Rare Musical Treasure
The Oaks is home to a magnificent 900-pipe organ built by the renowned Australian organ-building firm Whitehouse Bros. Installed within the main salon, this exceptional instrument serves as a focal point for classical performances, organ tutelage, and historical music preservation in Western Sydney.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the organ produces a rich, resonant tone that fills the Victorian residence with magnificent acoustics, offering musicians and audiences an unforgettable auditory experience.
"When I visited The Oaks for the first time, I was struck by the creative use of space and how the organ was designed and distributed in such a way as to allow it to speak freely both into the living room and into the garden below...this is surely the rarest example of a house organ anywhere not least in Australia.
The voicing of the Whitehouse instrument is warm, expressive, vocal and versatile, as I would expect from a builder of such renown. With the addition of a couple of further voices and the enclosure of the swell division, one could add a further dimension of expressivity and versatility to this instrument, a most deserving cause in my book.
With these small additions, significant goals can be achieved to make it an excellent teaching instrument and an even more colourful concert organ…what a marvelous legacy this would be for the musical world in Sydney, for it is on instruments such as these, we can tutor the next generations of organists in perpetuity, a most noble cause and one that the organ and sacred music scene desperately needs."
